New Parking Rates at Tucson International Airport Effective November 1

To meet rising operating costs, and to continue improving Tucson International Airport (TUS) through self-sufficient funding, the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) Board of Directors approved new parking rates at TUS for the first time in more than five years. The new rates, which will go into effect November 1, are a response to a nearly 20% increase in airport operating expenses which has occurred since rates were last increased in February 2017.

Both hourly and daily rate changes have been limited to no more than a $2.00 per day increase and rate changes will be applied to all TAA public parking facilities. Those facilities include the Daily and Hourly lots directly in front of the terminal, the adjacent Garage, and the Economy lots, which are serviced by a free shuttle to/from the terminal.

Increases to the daily rate vary by parking facility. The Garage, Hourly and Daily lots will increase by $2.00 per day, the Economy Covered lot will increase by $1.50 per day, and the Economy lot will increase by $0.50 per day. Hourly rates will also be changing from $2.00 per hour to $3.00 per hour; these lots are charged $1 per 20 minutes until the daily max value is accrued.  Parking fees at TUS are flat rates, with all applicable taxes built into the total posted daily amount.

Parking rates at TUS will remain comparable with off-site options surrounding the TUS campus and favorable to other airports in the region. This move follows a national trend of parking rate increases at airports. All rate adjustments are presented in the following table:

Hourly Rate Daily Rate Daily Rate Change
Old New Old New $ incr. % incr.
Hourly Lot  $ 2.00  $ 3.00*  $ 13.00  $ 15.00 $ 2.00 15.4%
Daily Lot  $ 2.00  $ 3.00*  $ 10.00  $ 12.00 $ 2.00 20.0%
Economy Lot N/A N/A  $ 4.50  $ 5.00 $ 0.50 11.1%
Economy Covered Lot N/A N/A  $ 6.00  $ 7.50 $ 1.50 25.0%
Parking Garage  $ 3.00 $ 3.00  $ 10.00  $ 12.00 $ 2.00 20.0%

*The Hourly and Daily lot rates are charged at $1 per 20 minutes until the daily max value is accrued.

Parking revenues account for nearly 20% of the TAA’s annual revenue. The rate increase will support the airport’s operating and capital budgets, including a $2 million capital investment project to replace the parking management system in 2023, which will help improve the customer experience and operations for all parking lots.

Vehicles that entered the lot prior to the effective date will be charged the old rate for the entire stay.
