FAA Flight Reductions

Tucson, AZ – The Tucson Airport Authority, operator of the Tucson International Airport (TUS), is aware of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) approach to phase a reduction of flights in the top markets of the nation’s airspace beginning on Friday, November 7, 2025, due to Air Traffic Controller shortages. Airports, airlines and industry associations are in communication with the Department of Transportation and FAA officials to understand the potential impacts and commercial service airports across the nation are preparing for significant disruptions to air travel.

While TUS serves multiple cities nonstop that are listed on the planned reduction list (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Portland and Denver), we are confident that our airline partners serving TUS will do what they can to accommodate passengers who have disrupted flights.  We acknowledge there may be impacts to flights at TUS and suggest travelers check with their airlines for the latest flight information.

While we take pride in our ease of use, in the coming days and as the holiday approaches, we recommend you arrive earlier than usual as we expect an influx of customers needing additional assistance.  We want to ensure the traveling public that TUS is open, fully operational, and safety remains our highest priority.
